History

Sasori was born to a world-famous doctor named Akasuna Seiji, and his wife Haiko. Seiji was part of WHO (World Health Organization), and traveled to many different countries, taking Haiko along, so Sasori was born in Nigeria and spent the early years of his life there.

As a child, Sasori was home-schooled by his mother, and was indulged and spoiled quite often by her and her husband. While other children his age were mastering coloring books, Sasori's father read medical volumes aloud to him, upon request. They were a happy, supposedly normal family, full of love for one another. Then, one day, Sasori's world was shattered and his parents died in a fire.

While the cause of the fire is still unknown, Sasori outwardly seemed to adapt quickly. After his parents' death, he was instantly shunted over to his paternal grandmother, who had a one-sided love for her grandson, who wanted nothing to do with her. For years, he seemed to be just fine. His grades were good, he ate like any normal young boy, except that he didn't socialize. He never brought friends over, and was never invited to parties that Chiyo knew of. Unknown to her, however, Sasori was making himself his own world, in his room. She discovered it when cleaning, by accident—the lovingly carved dolls, replicas of his parents, and some dolls modeled after people unknown to her. Out of love for her grandson, she didn't say anything, and let him continue. He was only thirteen, after all; there was no harm in it.

Upon entering junior high, Sasori, much to Chiyo's relief, started socializing for the first time, and spent less time in his room alone. He never brought his so-called friends home to meet her, but through high school, he spent more and more time outside, and came home later and later, sometimes sneaking in.

But he wasn't a complete angst-machine. He smiled. He laughed. He showed normal social skills. And, in his father's footsteps, he transferred to a school with an excellent medical program, so he could become a doctor. Though unfortunately, some personality flaws refuse to stay hidden.
